I’ve been watching some of the Olympics with my children. It’s amazing to see the incredible things that these athletes do. I think of the long hours and hard work it took to get there and I can’t help truly admiring their dedication. My daughter has been especially interested in the gymnastics and it’s recorded so, we’ve watched that several times. Being a curious trivia kind of person though, I wondered what the Olympic Rings stood for so I headed over to Wiki and got my answer!
The five Olympic rings represent the five parts of the world involved in the Olympics “…the six colors [including the flag’s white background] thus combined reproduce the colors of all the nations, with no exception. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tri- colours of France, England and America, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or Australia, with old Japan and new China. Here is truly an international symbol.” You can read more about it here.
